Ice Cream Theme Birthday Party
Earlier this month I got to help style an Ice Cream themed birthday party! My dear friend Josie's daughter Athena Mae was turning two! She is the sweetest little girl, and what's sweeter than turning two and combining her love of ice cream?
We found the most darling invitations from Casa Confetti Design Studio that set the tone for the party! We used soft hues of mint, yellow, and pink throughout, and then added bolder, brighter colors in the same shades to really make a pop.
The striped table runners might be my favorite to date! They are simple, yet sweet, and tie in nicely with the theme. Often times I find cute fabric at my local fabric store & buy it - not knowing exactly what I want to do with it just yet, but love it so much I can't help myself. I had had this sweet mint/white striped fabric since this spring and decided it would be the perfect use for this party! I sewed some runners for the guest tables, and cut out small squares to cover the mason jars of individually scooped ice cream.
Adorning the mason jars of individually scooped ice cream were sweet little gift tags from Casa Confetti Design Studio that also matched the invitations. I added soft pink card stock to the back of each gift tag, and attached them to the top of each mason jar.
Decorated on the guest tables were hand painted ceramic pots filled with baby's breath. Josie hand painted each pot to look like an ice cream cone - they were too cute! Speaking of ice cream cones - I can't get over how adorable Prep and Bake Cookies were! This is the third time we've used Stefanie's cookies, and I am blown away by each new cookie design she comes up with!
How cute is this melted ice cream cone cake? Josie, the mama herself, made this delightful little vanilla cake with raspberry frosting.
I just love the idea of having a birthday chalkboard for each year that passes! It is a great way to help you remember all of the fun milestones that happen throughout the year! This chalkboard was so fantastic! Can you guess who did it?!
With the Mama being an incredible chalk artist - she's the owner of Chalk Chic Mama - you better believe the party was filled with spectacular chalkboards throughout! Each station had a lovely chalkboard that tied in perfectly with the theme.
What would an Ice Cream themed party be without actual Ice Cream? So, for the dessert table we had an Ice Cream Bar! Guests had the option to build their own cone, fill a bowl, or have pre-scooped ice cream in mason jars. We kept the options simple with three different flavors of ice cream. Guests could then embellish their ice cream choice with homemade brownie bites, homemade raspberry compote, chocolate sauce, or whip cream. It was a fun, sweet treat which guests loved.
Our new Vintage Wash Tub Stand worked perfectly displaying the different flavors of ice cream guests had the option to choose from, and our new Rectangular Galvanized Tub ended up being the perfect vessel to
hold all of the pre-scooped ice cream jars.
I just loved the little back drop Josie created for the dessert table. It was a simple project where she painted a pallet board white, used a canvas banner her mother had sewn, and painted "Too Sweet" on it. She then added a touch of greenery and a #2 Balloon. Simple and sweet.
How adorable is that Ice Cream play stand? Josie and her husband built that as well for the party! While the children played, the adults enjoyed mimosas. We garnished each glass with tiny ice cream cones. Each cone was dipped in gold sprinkles, and then topped with pink cotton candy - a guest favorite for sure!
One more item that was handmade by Josie and her husband - and another favorite from all of the guests - was the Ice Cream Bean Bag Toss Game! It matched the invitations impeccably! The most charming game you ever did see!
Josie truly does amazing work - and not just on chalkboards!
It was a sweet day celebrating an extra sweet two year old!
